Currently the asset importer has the ability to set random rotation on the model you plan to upload. It seems it will rotate an object by various degrees…45, 75, etc. This is great for things like animals, monsters, natural things, and stuff that has been scattered about. So we need to keep this one in place.
However, for manmade structures, such as a square based column, it would be awesome if there was a different random rotator (maybe “random face rotation”), that rotates an object by 90, 180, 270 from the default face (or, of course, not at all, as the default face should still be a result).
Why? Having a bunch of columns that look like the same column is boring, but some columns look different on each side, so if you deploy a bunch and rotate them, it will look like different columns vs. the same actual column. Using a randomizer just makes it all the more easy to do this.
If the column is perfectly circular from top to bottom, the current randomizer is fine, but if it has a square base, sides, top, etc., you’ll get oddly turned results…but that won’t be an issue if the rotation is always in increments of 90 degrees.
