Option to quick select the selected object in the sidebar

We've all done it: Working on a map that's one of our best so far and it has all kinds of things in it (or we've downloaded one) and we have an item of type XYZ. We know it's in a specific category and there are other similar items and you want one of those.

But where in the world was it???

It would be grand if, on an item we've selected in the map, we could have an option to have the selected toolbar/sidebar automagically flip to that object so that we could find similarly categorized items.
