Scenarios that occur within cities. As I explained in the "Modern Theme" thread, I believe Urban is different from Modern. In fact, the word "modern" has many possible conotations.
The word Urban also has different meanings, but they all fall under the category of "City".
Supporting an Urban theme would involve having the capacity to make maps for a range of different cities from different cultures and ages within the last 100 years or so. Starting with the contemporary setting (the last 10-20 years) and moving to the 80s and 90s would probably fulfill 90% of the expectations.
Some ideas are:
- Building interiors: being able to create settings inside of buildings probably the most desired feature. But there are so many building variations that this feature alone could take serious resources (but also enable a vast array of campaigns). Examples: hospitals, schools, apartments, houses, penthouses, mansions, beach houses, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, amusement parks, gyms, univesities, research laboratories.
- Room variety: An urban building can have so many room variations that one building alone could serve as a setting for an adventure. Examples: kitchen, bedroom (which tend to vary according to the owner), dormitory (collective), game room (with videogames and TVs), another gameroom (with tables for card games or chess), library, high-tech library (with computers and glass doors), gardens and their multiple varieties, pools…
- Streets: The next most desired feature I imagine.
- Sewers: common for many urban scenarios.
- Rooftops: less conventional, but certainly a possible setting.
- Overviews the ability to create realistic "Google Maps like" views, to - Specialized maps: showing temperature, height, etc of a location.
- Transport: Showing traffic, estimated travel time, or maybe just a simple roadmap. Also maps showing airlines, railways, sea routes, and similar transportations.
- City building tool: a tool to create the general buildings of a city as seen externally from a top-down view (and maybe from other points of view).
- Vehicles: the insides of vehicles, especially large ones, could be settings for campaigns.
