Configurable stairs?

What would be nice is the ability to build the height and width of the stairs, not just have to select from a small set of objects. What I mean is if I wanted a 3 x 2 wooden staircase, I could build it out like a room. Maybe that could be a selection in the room menu, but the thing is, the user would need the ability to rotate the stairs so they could be going up or down or right to left, left to right.
